It is a tough canvas sack with leather straps. It also has a neat hand sewn leather frame at the top of the bag.It has a strong eyelet closure at the top. With one strap it can be worn slung to the side like a postal bag or at the shoulder,or worn on any width belt with its quick release leather belt loops. It measures 9"x 12" It has one small internal pouch to hold a canteen or a water bottle. It just looks great...

Comments about Swiss Antique Satchel:

While the bag loks exactly like the picture, what the picture doesn't reveal is that it appears that the closure flap has been cut off. If you look above the hook and eye closure, you can see a band of green. That is where the original flap cover was. Why it's been cut off, don't know. But it would have been nice to have it on.
Otherwise, it's exactly as shown. It will make a great field / day hike bag.

Comments about Swiss Antique Satchel:

I actually bought this product to round out my Indiana Jones costume. And it is a perfect addition. When it arrived it did have a strong aroma of being stored for a while. I put it in the wash and air dryed and it took care of it with no damage to the bag.

Comments about Swiss Antique Satchel:

I use this to carry my survival kit. This includes BCB British water bottle with plastic cup and the crusader stainless cup and stove. Esbit fuel for stove, matches, compass. Food (MRE's)x2 and other survival related gear. All of this hanging and easy to reach on my shoulder. No backpack. Hauls alot, but not a burden in the field.

Comments about Swiss Antique Satchel:

I bought this item for my husband's Indiana Jones Halloween costume--[...] looks just like the picture. The only drawback is its musty smell!! I'm letting it air out in the garage, and hopefully it will dissipate. Ugh!

Comments about Swiss Antique Satchel:

[...] Not really an antique as advertised. I was expecting WWII stuff and these are made in the 70-80s and so marked. Nice shape and very useful though. I use them to carry Solothurn mags and accs. Works just fine. They are light to medium duty and were originally made as rations bags for the Swiss military.
