The fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of Socialism opened up great opportunities for the people in East Germany. Yet, this abundance of opportunity did not come without social cost.
The military invested heavily in the machines, dress, and boots worn by soldiers. Soldiers were prepared for wind, rain, and storm.
Remember Germany's military was humiliated by Napoleon. Then again, history repeated itself when cold, wet winters pushed back German troops from the Russian front during World War II. Jackets and boots were essential for fighting back freezing weather.
